Located in the northeastern region of California, Lassen County was formed in 1864, with a county seat Susanville. Its unique terrain consists of the beautiful Sierra Nevada, Cascade Mountains and the desert of the Great Basin. Lassen County offers a wide variety of activities – from waterskiing and fishing at Eagle Lake to horseback riding in the high desert areas and skiing in Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lassen National Forest. Each year many visitors come to witness the annual BLM roundup and adoption of wild mustangs at Twin Peaks. Places of interest include Clear Creek Park, Ash Creek State Wildlife Area, Clara Bieber Memorial Park and Mountain Meadows Creek. Lassen County is rich in natural settings and year-round recreational activities. Its rural communities are perfect for raising a family in a quiet atmosphere.
