Tuolumne County was one of the original counties of California, formed in 1850 at the time of statehood. It’s situated in the Sierra Nevada, with the northern half of Yosemite National Park within its boundaries. The name of the county is of Native American origin and is pronounced "To All o' Me", with a silent N. Places of interest include Odd Fellows High Sierra Park, South Shore Recreation Area, Tuolumne State Game Refuge and Merlo Field Sports Complex. A wide range of outdoor activities is available, among which are skiing, hiking, biking, river rafting, fishing, camping, gold panning, sightseeing and more. There are many different things to do in the historic Gold Country where the biggest gold rush in American history began. With its picturesque beauty and dedicated school system, Tuolumne County is a great place to live in and raise a family.
